Preparation for Recording
Instruments
Not happy with how your instrument sounds ?
Borrow, rent or purchase another instrument that better
suits your needs before coming in to lay down tracks at the
studio. The better your instrument sounds , the sweeter it
will come out and translate on the recording.
Guitar/Bass: Get Your Guitar Setup (intonation etc) at your
local guitar shop and put on new strings
Drums: Clean Cymbals, New Drum Heads, Oil Pedals
Vocalists: Eat healthy foods, Drink plenty of water, Avoid
Dairy and Nut Products
Musicians
-Preproduction will you save you time and money in the
studio
-Practice, Practice, Practice
-Practice to a click track
-Practice makes perfect
-Come up with tempos to your songs using a click/metronome
, everyone in the band will be comfortable playing the song
in the studio thus saving you you time and money
-Vocalists: type the lyrics to the songs that you plan to
record. This makes my job easier as i can follow along
while recording vocals and make sure that every word is
sung crystal clear.
- While recording , don't hesitate to take 5 minute breaks
every hour or so. If you feel tired a break. It will only
help keep you fresh (and sane) while tracking.
More to come....
